hislastfriend: (So...that didn't go well)

Jeremy's lips twitch just a touch, because he and Miles could hear her giving orders, and he's honestly glad to have someone else who genuinely cares.

"I'm glad he's drinking something." Without IVs, dehydration was deadly for patients who couldn't manage to swallow, which was far too many. Not eating was bad enough, but for those who wouldn't wake up quickly...it was funny, the little things that you took for granted about modern medicine once they were gone, nevermind the big ones. That Bass had been able to, the doc said, pointed more toward a semi-conscious state than being comatose, at least. Response to painful stimuli, pupils still responding, but just...not really waking up. But that they'd gotten any water down him at all, without him choking on it or aspirating it, was good.

"Be careful with the bath--the surgeon's been making sure his wounds stay clean, but with being unclear if his ribs are broken or how much internal damage there's been, doc's been hesitant to move him for fear of doing more damage." He wasn't telling her not to do it, but. They hadn't just been not cleaning him up for no good reason, neglecting him or whatever. "Just try not to move him too much."

"I can help," Miles offered after a moment of watching her, his own worry written clearly on his face, and this time, more for Bass than her.
