The arrival of someone into the private sanctuary she'd carved for herself and for Bass had her looking sharply at the entrance with a hand on her hip for her weapon. She hadn't heard any skirmishes outside, but she'd been involved with the man on the bed, so she wasn't discounting. The words and the gentle tone of voice, however, calmed her from her fight-or-fight reflex.
"Yes," she acknowledged, then glanced down at Bass. "He had only a little bit of mashed up food, and some more water. It's been a couple of hours, but I gave him a small bath, but I didn't move him."
She looked back at the man and took a breath, sighing it out. "What's next?"
